About this plugin
Session Guitarist - Electric Neon Deluxe is a Kontakt-based instrument designed to integrate electric guitar directly into electronic music production without requiring traditional playing technique. Built around an active-pickup electric guitar tone, it provides 240 presets split between rhythm and lead instruments, each equipped with dedicated articulations for both plectrum and fingered playing styles.
The plugin's core strength lies in its production-oriented sound design rather than acoustic authenticity. Its 30 amp and effects chains prioritize sitting correctly in dense electronic mixes - particularly EDM and contemporary pop contexts - where guitars typically need aggressive processing to compete with synthesizers and drums. This represents a departure from simulation-focused approaches, instead treating the guitar as a sound source for immediate, mix-ready deployment.

The rhythm instrument generates pattern-based grooves and textural layers, while the lead instrument handles melody work and punctuation. The fingered articulations distinguish Deluxe from its Essentials counterpart, adding tactile variation that prevents tonal repetition across sustained passages or complex arrangements. This proves valuable for producers seeking natural phrasing without manual expression editing.
For producers lacking guitar proficiency, the presets eliminate the learning curve entirely. For experienced guitarists, the instrument functions as a specialized texture generator rather than a replacement for traditional recording. The NKS integration ensures seamless workflow within Komplete and other Native Instruments ecosystems.
Among competing guitar tools, Electric Neon Deluxe occupies a specific niche - optimized for electronic genres where guitars serve as textural elements rather than foundational voices. Its preset density and articulation depth make it particularly suitable for rapid prototyping and iteration-heavy production sessions.
