About this plugin
Glassy is Sampleson's take on the digital electric piano sounds that dominated production from the late 1980s through the 1990s. Rather than relying on sample playback or FM synthesis, the plugin employs spectral modelling to reconstruct the harmonic character of classic digital pianos while offering genuine tonal flexibility. The approach yields 20 distinct preset sounds within a remarkably compact 35MB footprint, each with detailed harmonic control across the keyboard range.
The signal chain includes essential period-appropriate effects - chorus and phaser - that anchor the vintage sound without requiring external processing. The interface scales responsively, and a pad generator with filter adds textural possibilities beyond straight piano tones. The plugin functions as a standalone instrument or integrates as VST, AU, or within most major DAWs without dependency on third-party sample players or online activation.

Glassy addresses a specific production need: authentic recreation of that characterful late-digital-era piano sound without sample library management or the CPU overhead of more complex synthesis. The spectral approach captures the subtle harmonic relationships that made those original instruments distinctive, particularly their slightly metallic character and responsive dynamics across registers.
The plugin is best suited for producers working within '80s and '90s genres - house, techno, pop, and R&B - where these textures carry period credibility. Session musicians and composers seeking quick access to genre-appropriate textures will find the workflow efficient. While not a primary tool for acoustic piano emulation, Glassy occupies a valuable niche for anyone requiring historically grounded digital electric piano tones without the baggage of large sample sets.
