About this plugin
Dragon EQ is a three-band parametric equalizer designed with a focus on creative tone shaping across the full frequency spectrum. The plugin covers 18Hz to 22kHz with independent gain and drive controls on each band, allowing producers to add both linear boost/cut and harmonic coloration simultaneously. This dual-layer approach distinguishes it from standard linear-phase EQs, enabling everything from transparent surgical fixes to aggressive tonal enhancement depending on how aggressively you push the drive slider.
The standout feature is the mid-side matrix, which decouples the processing of mono and stereo information. This proves invaluable for widening specific frequency ranges, controlling stereo image bleed, or maintaining center-focused bass while opening up the mid-range. For mixing engineers, this capability alone justifies the plugin's presence in a critical chain where precision stereo sculpting is necessary.

The oversampling option addresses artifacts at high gain settings, though the primary sonic character emerges from the drive section rather than pristine transparency. Dragon EQ sits somewhere between a surgical mixing tool and a coloration device, making it most useful for engineers who treat EQ as both corrective and creative.
The three-band topology is intentionally broad, which suits mixing and mastering work over surgical tracking correction. Compared to more granular parametric designs, Dragon EQ trades specificity for ease of use and cohesive tonal shaping. It's best suited for producers and mix engineers comfortable with aggressive equalization who value stereo control and harmonic character in their processing chain.
