About this plugin
SRX DANCE TRAX transplants Roland's venerated dance and electronic music sound library into plugin form, drawing from six titles in the legacy SRX and SR-JV80 expansion board series. The collection aggregates over 2000 waveforms across 567 patches, delivering a comprehensive toolkit for producers working in house, techno, drum and bass, trance, and hip-hop contexts.
The plugin's technical foundation rests on Roland's Digital Circuit Behavior technology, which models the original hardware's sample ROM alongside the circuitry behavior of the vintage expansion boards themselves. This approach preserves the tonal character and response of the original hardware while enabling modern editing and automation within a DAW environment. The sonic palette includes hundreds of individual drum hits, synthesizer stabs, effect loops, scratches, and grooves that reflect the production aesthetic of the late 1990s and early 2000s electronic music scene.

What distinguishes SRX DANCE TRAX among contemporary dance music plugins is its specificity. Rather than offering generalized electronic sounds, these patches were originally designed for specialized hardware contexts and retain that focused purpose. The drum sounds carry the particular sonic signature of Roland's digital processing from that era, while synth patches reflect the FM and wavetable synthesis approaches common to the XP-80 and XV-5080 workflows.
The plugin suits producers seeking authentic period-appropriate textures or those building modern productions that intentionally reference the early digital dance music era. Engineers accustomed to working with vintage Roland hardware will recognize the sonic DNA immediately. For those unfamiliar with the original boards, the collection functions as a historical reference point for understanding how professional electronic music production sounded during hardware's reign as the primary production medium.
