About this plugin
The Maselec Pro Bundle pairs two cornerstone mastering tools developed in collaboration with legendary engineer Leif Mases, delivering precision dynamic and tonal control in a cohesive software environment. The MEA-2 Precision Stereo EQ translates the hardware unit's asymmetrical Q design and broad shelving characteristics into plugin form, offering genuine transparency without the surgical harshness common to digital EQs. Hand-tuned curves across each band preserve mix integrity while granting surgical access to problem frequencies. M/S processing per band extends utility beyond stereo work, accommodating immersive and stem-based workflows.
The MLA-4 Triband Compressor/Expander addresses a critical gap in multiband dynamic processing. Rather than treating each frequency band identically, the MLA-4 applies independent compression characteristics, allowing natural musical movement without tonal collapse. The inclusion of per-band THD control marks a meaningful departure from standard multiband tools, enabling targeted harmonic enrichment where dynamics processing traditionally introduces transparency loss. Auto Spectral Balance maintains perceived mix balance during aggressive dynamic shaping.

This pairing suits mastering engineers seeking transparent, musically responsive tools that avoid the overly processed character plaguing many multiband solutions. The MEA-2 handles surgical EQ tasks while the MLA-4 manages dynamics with genuine musicality. Mixing engineers working on individual stems or bus processing will find the combination equally valuable, particularly when correcting heavily compressed sources or controlling transient-heavy material. The plugin implementation incorporates modern conveniences like per-band monitoring and expanded parameter access impossible in the original hardware, justifying the transition for committed users while maintaining sonic integrity.
