About this plugin
RAW-Kick 2 is Rob Papen's significantly expanded successor to the original RAW-Kick, positioning itself as a comprehensive kick drum synthesizer rather than a standard effect plugin. The upgrade introduces a three-layer architecture, allowing producers to stack synthesized models with sample-based sources, enabling complex kick construction that ranges from pristine synthetic tones to hybrid designs blending oscillator and sample-based generation.
The plugin's architecture separates workflow into practical and deep-dive modes. The Main page provides essential parameters for rapid sound design and layer combination, while the Advanced section opens multi-stage envelopes for pitch and volume modulation, granular processing of samples with dynamic length and size modulation, and comprehensive synthesis controls. This tiered approach suits both quick preset browsing and meticulous sound design.

The inclusion of a ribbon controller with tempo-based spring-back functionality allows real-time dynamic parameter manipulation during performance or mixing, a feature that distinguishes RAW-Kick 2 from static synthesis tools. The Master section provides finishing processing, ensuring cohesion across layered sources.
With over 1300 presets spanning Hardcore, Hardstyle, EDM, Hip Hop, R&B, House, and DnB, created by established producers and sound designers, RAW-Kick 2 offers immediately usable foundation tones while maintaining deep customization potential. The plugin's dual-model approach and extensive preset library make it particularly valuable for producers seeking sophisticated kick design without abandoning accessibility.
RAW-Kick 2 stands as a specialized tool for producers prioritizing kick drum sonics and complexity, occupying a distinct position between simple drum machines and general-purpose synthesizers.
