About this plugin
PSP Echo is a versatile delay processor that combines straightforward usability with genuinely creative sound design possibilities. At its core, the plugin models vintage tape echo behavior using four internal mono delay lines: two dedicated to ping-pong pre-delay staging and two handling the main stereo echo output. This architecture allows for complex spatial and temporal effects that extend well beyond conventional digital delays.
The plugin's tape wow control deserves particular attention. Rather than a gimmicky afterthought, it provides authentic pitch modulation characteristic of aged magnetic tape, lending warmth and character that digital delays typically lack. The integrated ducker further expands creative options by allowing the delayed signal to duck beneath incoming audio, essential for maintaining clarity in dense mixes while preserving spatial ambience.

PSP Echo's delay sliders distinguish it from competitors. Rather than relying solely on tempo sync, these controls enable hands-on manipulation of individual delay times, facilitating everything from tight slap-back effects to intricate rhythmic textures. This approach rewards experimentation and works equally well for synced and free-running applications.
The factory preset library demonstrates thoughtful curation, covering practical foundations without overwhelming the user. For mixing engineers, PSP Echo excels at adding dimension to individual tracks or buses. For sound designers and producers, the tape modeling and precise timing control support both subtle enhancement and radical transformation.
Among comparable delay tools, PSP Echo occupies a distinctive middle ground between minimal interfaces and feature-heavy workstations. Its sonic character leans toward musicality rather than clinical precision, making it suitable for both subtle background processing and deliberately textured, characterful delay work across virtually any genre.
