About this plugin
The PSP E27 is a faithful digital emulation of the Avedis Audio Electronics E27, a three-band equalizer that has earned respect in professional mastering facilities for its musical character and transparency. The plug-in captures the analog device's nonlinear behavior through detailed modeling, delivering the subtle harmonic coloration that distinguishes quality mastering EQs from generic implementations.
The topology centers on three parametric bands with switchable filter types. The low and high bands toggle between bell and shelf modes, providing flexibility for both corrective and creative shaping. Nine selectable frequencies across each band cover musically relevant ranges, and the +/- 16dB gain range gives sufficient control for both subtle and dramatic interventions. A dedicated preamp stage handles global level compensation, essential when layering multiple processors.

The E27's sonic signature leans toward gentle, musical saturation rather than clinical precision. This characteristic makes it particularly effective on full mixes where transparent surgical cuts might sound sterile. The analog modeling ensures that boosting frequencies doesn't introduce the phase artifacts common to lesser digital EQs, maintaining mix coherence during mastering work.
The included PSP E27se variant presents the same audio engine with a streamlined interface, prioritizing speed during intensive mixing sessions. Engineers appreciating the E27's character but preferring quicker workflow will find this simplified version practical without compromise.
The PSP E27 suits mastering engineers seeking trustworthy tonal shaping and mixing professionals who value the warmth of properly modeled analog circuitry. It occupies a distinct niche where accuracy and musicality intersect.
