PSP ConsoleQ is a parametric equalizer that emulates the sonic character and operational feel of British console mixing desks. The plugin provides four bands of equalization - shelving low and high pass filters plus peaking mid-range bands - with continuously variable frequency control and gain-dependent Q characteristics that narrow as you increase boost or cut. This behavior mirrors the behavior of classic hardware, where filter bandwidth tightens with greater gain change, resulting in more musical and less clinical adjustments.

The plugin's technical foundation emphasizes accuracy and low-noise operation. It employs 64-bit double precision floating point mathematics throughout the signal chain, meaningfully reducing cumulative errors that accumulate when stacking multiple filter engagements. FAT double sampling activates automatically below 50 kHz sample rates, ensuring consistent behavior across different session settings. An optional saturation stage at the output adds smooth harmonic distortion that protects against digital clipping while imparting subtle coloration.
