About this plugin
The Sandman delay plugin stands apart from conventional delay tools through its integration of granular processing with traditional time-based effects. At its core lies the SLEEP function, which freezes incoming audio at a user-defined point to create loops based on the delay time value. This mechanism transforms the plugin into a hybrid instrument capable of everything from subtle texture enhancement to radical sample manipulation.
The technical implementation centers on adjustable Start and End points within the frozen audio buffer, enabling both conventional looping and reverse playback when boundaries overlap. Combined with the Sample Rate parameter - which degrades audio quality through direct sample rate reduction - Sandman functions as a capable granular synthesizer capable of producing everything from vintage tape artifacts to heavily decimated textures. An integrated LFO modulates key parameters across host-synced intervals, while a de-clicking algorithm manages envelope transitions during extreme parameter shifts.

For producers working in experimental electronic, ambient, or sound design-focused genres, Sandman provides genuine creative potential beyond typical delay workflows. The plugin excels at extracting evolving loops from single-source material and generating textural sweeteners through subtle granular processing. Traditional delay applications - flanging effects, comb filtering, rhythmic repetition - remain functional though less distinctive than the granular capabilities.
The Kill switch provides essential safeguarding when parameter automation produces unexpected results. While the learning curve exceeds standard delay plugins, experienced sound designers will find Sandman's creative scope justifies this complexity. It occupies a credible position among specialized granular tools, offering accessibility without sacrificing sonic potential.
