About this plugin
Unfiltered Audio's Instant Delay occupies a distinctive position in the crowded delay plugin market by combining essential functionality with thoughtfully engineered creative features. At its core, it handles standard delay tasks competently - tempo-synced echoes, spatial effects, and ambient textures - but distinguishes itself through implementation details that matter in professional production.
The plugin's most significant technical achievement is its artifact-free delay buffer algorithm, inherited from the company's flagship Sandman Pro. This approach elegantly sidesteps the compromises inherent in most delay designs: tape emulations introduce pitch fluctuations during parameter changes, while conventional digital delays produce audible glitches and crackle. Instant Delay's seamless buffer transition eliminates these issues entirely, making real-time delay time adjustments genuinely musical rather than problematic.

The delay time section offers genuine flexibility through independent stereo channel control and offset capabilities. Short offsets create widening effects on mono sources, while extended offsets generate intricate polyrhythmic textures. The Jitter parameter adds subtle randomization to the delay time, introducing organic character without sacrificing clarity.
Instant Delay suits engineers who value sonic transparency without sacrificing creative options. It's particularly valuable in mixing scenarios where delay parameter adjustments occur during a session - vocal tuning, spatial enhancement, or rhythmic experimentation no longer introduces unwanted artifacts. While not exclusively a "character" delay, its polished sound and robust feature set make it a pragmatic choice for professionals who need reliable performance backed by subtle creative possibilities.
