About this plugin
Swivel Audio Spread addresses a fundamental challenge in modern mixing: achieving genuine stereo width without sacrificing low-end stability or mono compatibility. The plugin employs multiband processing across three user-defined frequency ranges, allowing independent control over stereo imaging in the bass, midrange, and treble. This architectural approach prevents the phase coherence problems that plague simpler, full-range stereo widening tools.
The core imaging engine offers two distinct algorithms, each tuned for different aesthetic goals. The first prioritizes transparent enhancement, ideal for mastering applications where maintaining the integrity of the original stereo mix is paramount. The second algorithm delivers more aggressive width expansion for mixing scenarios where additional dimension enhances the creative vision. Both algorithms maintain phase relationships more carefully than typical stereo imaging plugins.

The Side Filter deserves particular attention for its practical utility. Operating in mid-side space, it surgically removes stereo information from the low frequencies while preserving mono bass integrity. This directly addresses the muddiness and phase issues that emerge when bass elements are spread across the stereo field. An audition mode lets engineers isolate and evaluate the effect before committing.
Additional tools like mute, solo, and per-band offset controls provide surgical precision when correcting problematic mixes or crafting specific sonic signatures. The tilt feature balances left-right imbalance without affecting stereo width perception.
Spread occupies an important niche between basic stereo widening plugins and complex mid-side processors. It's suited for mastering engineers seeking transparent enhancement, mixing professionals needing multiband control, and producers seeking quick, reliable width without deep parameter diving.
