SPL Passeq

The SPL Passeq represents a genuine advance in passive EQ modeling. Built on component-level architecture developed with Brainworx, this plugin captures the essential characteristic that makes passive equalization musically compelling: complex inter-band interactions that occur when multiple filters operate simultaneously on a signal path. Unlike active designs where bands function independently, the Passeq's architecture produces natural compression and harmonic coloration as you engage adjacent bands, resulting in a tonality that feels organic rather than surgical.

Six parametric bands with 12 switchable frequencies each provide 72 targetable frequencies per channel - 36 for boosting and 36 for cutting. The separation between boost and cut frequencies prevents unnatural peaks and dips when switching between operations. Transformer modeling on input and output stages adds the subtle harmonic character expected from vintage hardware. The extended frequency range is particularly noteworthy: the 10 Hz sub band addresses deep-cut scenarios without phase artifacts, while the 16 kHz top end exhibits the musical air and presence that defines mastering-grade processing.

The plugin accommodates both traditional left/right stereo work and mid-side processing with independent channel linking options, making it viable across mixing and mastering contexts. Four preset recall buttons facilitate rapid A/B comparisons during critical listening sessions.
