About this plugin
The Mäag EQ2 represents a refined approach to equalizing that prioritizes surgical precision alongside the transparent, airy character the brand has cultivated across decades of hardware and plugin design. This two-band parametric equalizer complements rather than duplicates its larger sibling, the EQ4, by trading broad musicality for targeted control where it matters most.
The plugin's strength lies in its dual-nature philosophy. The low-mid frequency band offers eleven selectable bell curve options - six wide and five tight - allowing engineers to address problematic resonances with narrow Q settings or shape tone more broadly. This flexibility distinguishes the EQ2 from hardware units that offer fixed bandwidth selections. The second band, paired with the signature Air Band at 15kHz, provides the transparent presence boost that has defined Mäag's sonic signature across professional vocal and mix chain applications.

The Air Band's interaction with lower frequency adjustments creates tonal shaping that maintains phase coherence, a technical hallmark that prevents the signal degradation common to conventional EQ designs. An input attenuator ( - 12.5dB maximum) permits gain staging before equalization, addressing a practical need often overlooked in plugin design.
The EQ2 serves mixing engineers, mastering specialists, and production teams who require both corrective capability and the refined aesthetic that has made Mäag tools studio standards. It performs particularly well on vocals, drums, and master bus applications where transparency and musicality prove equally important. For those already familiar with Mäag's hardware legacy, the plugin delivers that sonic character with enhanced frequency selection options and modern workflow conveniences.
