About this plugin
Fluid Pitch addresses a fundamental limitation in keyboard performance: the pitch bend wheel's indifference to harmonic context. By locking pitch bend behavior to user-defined scales, this MIDI-to-MPE plugin eliminates the cognitive friction of navigating pitch space on standard keyboards. Rather than relying on muscle memory or risk hitting out-of-key notes, players can execute expressive pitch gestures confidently within harmonic boundaries.
The plugin's architecture converts standard MIDI input into MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) data, enabling polyphonic pitch bending on synthesizers designed for MPE control. This expands expressive possibilities beyond single-note manipulation, allowing chord bends and nuanced harmonic movement across multiple voices simultaneously. The microtonal tuning engine permits up to 100 cents of deviation per note, facilitating access to non-Western tuning systems like Indian ragas and Middle Eastern maqams without requiring specialized hardware or deep technical knowledge.

Fluid Pitch suits performers seeking real-time expressiveness without extensive relearning, as well as producers working with microtonal synthesis or exploring non-Western tonalities. Session musicians and live performers benefit from its flexibility - pitch bend ranges adjust in real-time, accommodating different musical contexts within a single performance.
Among scale-locking solutions, Fluid Pitch distinguishes itself through MPE upscaling, which few competitors offer at this integration level. The approach trades absolute pitch bend control for harmonic safety, making it most valuable for genre-agnostic performance environments where tonal security outweighs unlimited pitch freedom. Its effectiveness depends heavily on accurate scale selection and MPE synth compatibility.
