REV is Output's specialized instrument plugin built around reverse sound design, offering producers and composers a curated toolkit for creating atmospheric builds, transitions, and textural elements. Rather than functioning as a simple time-reverse processor, REV organizes its 14GB of content into four distinct engines: instruments, loops, rises, and effects.

The instruments engine houses complex synthesizers and sampled real instruments shaped through reverse processing, yielding 1,000+ playable presets. The loops engine provides live-recorded material across two octaves, all tempo-locked and adjustable for speed and pitch. The rises engine delivers the plugin's most practical feature - professionally timed crescendos and builds that sync automatically to your session tempo, eliminating manual editing. Stutters and filters layer on top, allowing real-time modulation and key-triggered manipulation.

The technical approach emphasizes immediacy. All content locks to tempo by default, with optional free-play modes. Notes snap to whole, half, or quarter-note durations. Built-in effects handle filtering, distortion, saturation, lo-fi processing, and spatial treatments like delay and reverb, all automatable and keyboard-assignable.
