About this plugin
Stereoplacer Elements is a frequency-selective stereo imaging tool that addresses a persistent challenge in audio production: correcting problematic stereo placement without affecting the entire frequency spectrum. The plugin operates on a straightforward principle - it analyzes incoming audio for stereo content and allows independent panning of specific frequency bands while leaving others untouched.
The technical approach centers on shelving EQ integrated with panning controls. Users can isolate frequency ranges and reposition them in the stereo field while maintaining the original balance of other spectral components. This proves particularly valuable when addressing off-center bass content. Rather than panning an entire bass guitar track (which introduces phase coherence issues), Stereoplacer Elements can center the low frequencies while pushing the high-frequency attack information into the stereo image. This creates the perceptual effect of a panned bass without the problematic low-end artifacts that conventional panning produces.

The plugin excels at three core tasks: reconstructing stereo information from mono sources, correcting poorly miked stereo recordings, and salvaging archive material with compromised stereo imaging. Its built-in stereo differential spectrum analyzer provides real-time visual feedback, helpful both for diagnostic work and for verifying adjustments before committing them to the mix.
Stereoplacer Elements finds its strongest applications in post-production, restoration work, and problem-solving scenarios where targeted stereo correction outweighs full-spectrum solutions. For engineers working with legacy recordings or imperfectly captured sessions, it represents a surgical alternative to wider stereo processing. The lightweight architecture and streamlined interface position it as the practical choice for focused stereo interventions rather than comprehensive stereo reconstruction.
