About this plugin
Elevate represents a significant step forward in mastering chain compression, combining multiband limiting with perceptual EQ in a single, intelligently adaptive processor. Developed by Newfangled Audio, the plugin analyzes 26 frequency bands modeled on human hearing sensitivity, allowing simultaneous gain reduction, attack time adjustment, and transient manipulation across the spectrum. This approach addresses a persistent problem in mastering: achieving loudness without sacrificing dynamics or introducing audible compression artifacts.
The core technology uses machine learning algorithms to automatically adjust attack, release, and look-ahead parameters for each band in real time. This adaptive behavior significantly reduces pumping and breathing artifacts that plague conventional multiband limiters, particularly when pushed hard. The transparent limiting behavior makes Elevate suitable for genres ranging from classical and jazz to electronic and hip-hop, where maintaining natural dynamics is critical even at competitive loudness levels.

Experienced users will appreciate the granular control available: individual band soloing, custom curve drawing, and precise transient shaping for sources like kick drums and snare. The plugin ships with presets from respected mastering engineers including Chris Tabron and John McCaig, providing both a starting point and a reference for professional results.
Among competing multiband limiters, Elevate distinguishes itself through its perceptual filter design and the relative absence of digital artifacts at high compression ratios. It's best suited for mastering engineers and serious producers who need surgical control without sacrificing sonic quality, though the learning curve is steeper than simpler limiting tools. The plugin has become a standard reference in professional mastering facilities.
