About this plugin
Muze's Dione represents a significant achievement in acoustic piano sampling. Built around a Steinway D-274 concert grand recorded in Eleon Media Studio with professional-grade microphones and preamps, the instrument delivers the tonal complexity and responsiveness that engineered pianos demand. The 10-dynamic-layer, chromatically sampled approach ensures natural velocity transitions across the keyboard, eliminating the quantization artifacts common in less meticulously captured libraries.
The sonic character is notably warm and present, a direct result of the recording environment and Muze's microphone placement strategy. Ten distinct mic positions - ranging from intimate close-mic perspectives to room ambience perspectives - provide genuine flexibility in shaping the piano's acoustic footprint. The vintage tape and close variants offer tasteful coloration for period-appropriate production work, while the wide room configuration suits cinematic contexts where spatial depth matters.

The 10-channel mixer and integrated effects suite grant meaningful sonic control without requiring external processing chains. The reverb, delays, and EQ options are competent rather than exceptional, but their inclusion streamlines workflow for composers and producers who value self-contained solutions. The layering engine permits straightforward sound stacking, useful for thickening arrangements without resorting to sample duplication.
At 8.2 GB compressed, Dione demands manageable storage and CPU resources relative to its 12,398 total sounds. The addon library extends beyond piano territory into complementary instruments, increasing utility for soundtrack and composition work. For hybrid producers seeking a reliable, well-recorded acoustic piano foundation with genuine sonic flexibility, Dione delivers solid technical execution at a reasonable cost-to-features ratio. It competes effectively against comparable offerings in its price range, though it occupies the middle tier of the professional sampling market rather than the absolute pinnacle.
