About this plugin
MWaveFolderMB stands as MeldaProduction's interpretation of multiband waveshaping, a category that balances surgical control with creative potential. The plugin splits your signal across up to six independent frequency bands, applying custom distortion curves to each rather than forcing a single character across the entire spectrum. This approach addresses a fundamental limitation of traditional distortion: broadband processing often colors the mix indiscriminately, burying detail or creating unmusical harmonic buildup.
The core architecture leverages adjustable oscillator shape technology, allowing you to craft everything from transparent harmonic enhancement to aggressive nonlinear destruction within each band. The modulation system significantly extends the tool's scope, with four independent modulators drawing from LFOs, envelope followers, audio level detection, and pitch tracking. This enables dynamic, evolving distortion characters that respond to incoming material rather than remaining static.

The dual interface approach - simplified for quick work and expanded for deep editing - proves pragmatic without sacrificing depth. Sixteen times upsampling, M/S processing, and surround channel support ensure technical competency across modern production scenarios. Automatic gain compensation prevents level surprises when stacking harmonic content, while the safety limiter provides necessary insurance.
MWaveFolderMB suits producers and engineers who need distortion beyond standard saturation plugins, particularly those working with complex mixes or individual tracks requiring targeted harmonic treatment. It's equally capable in sound design contexts where modulated waveshaping creates movement and texture. While not a subtle tool by design, its multiband architecture grants precision that justifies its presence in professional workflows.
