About this plugin
United Plugins' Cyberdrive Core is a streamlined distortion processor that distills the full Cyberdrive experience into a resource-efficient plugin without sacrificing sonic depth. The plugin houses 64 distortion models organized across eight categories, each capable of delivering anything from transparent harmonic enhancement to devastating digital degradation.
The architecture spans both hardware emulation and experimental synthesis. The Classic, Pedal, and Amp categories provide convincing analogue gear simulations - from vintage console saturation through iconic stompbox character to the compression and breakup of tube amplifiers. The Modern section employs multiband processing and wave-folding techniques for dynamic, frequency-selective distortion. The Pixel category pursues deliberate degradation through bit-crushing and sample-rate reduction, while Shape focuses on traditional wave-shaping methods like rectification and asymmetric clipping. The Doom and Freak categories prioritize extremity: brutal custom distortions and avant-garde synthesis using ring modulation, FM, and spectral manipulation.

A single Control knob per model allows parameter adjustment specific to each algorithm, enabling fine-grained character sculpting without overwhelming complexity. This design philosophy distinguishes Cyberdrive Core from competitors like Fabfilter's Saturator or Native Instruments' Massive X - it prioritizes focused workflow and CPU efficiency over comprehensive parameter depth.
The plugin suits producers requiring reliable harmonic processing alongside experimental sound design without the overhead of Cyberdrive's full feature set. It's equally valuable as a second instance processor and as a primary creative tool. Existing Cyberdrive owners receive Core automatically, while upgrading to the full version remains available at reduced cost, making it an effective entry point into United Plugins' distortion ecosystem.
