About this plugin
McDSP's MC2000 represents a mature refinement of multi-band compression architecture, offering three distinct processing engines (MC202, MC303, and MC404) that handle two, three, and four-band compression respectively. The plugin's technical foundation centers on precision dynamic control with established parameters - threshold, ratio, attack, and release - alongside the less common Knee and BITE controls that shape compression character in ways most comparable tools cannot match.
The sonic approach emphasizes clarity across frequency ranges through 24 dB/octave crossover filtering, which meaningfully reduces the harmonic bleed between bands that degrades transparency in competing designs. Multiple peak detection circuit types provide authentic emulation of vintage and modern compressor topologies, allowing users to dial in everything from transparent gain reduction to colored, aggressive articulation depending on source material and artistic intent.

This upgrade path targets existing v6 owners seeking improved processor optimization, enhanced UI design, and expanded preset library without repurchasing the plugin entirely. The Native version suits Mac and Windows DAW users working within standard plugin architectures, while HD versions address AAX DSP workflows separately.
MC2000 occupies a credible position among high-end multi-band compressors for mastering, mixing, and individual track processing. While not positioned as budget-friendly, the dual-activation licensing and zero-latency processing justify consideration for professional environments where transparent yet characterful dynamic control across multiple frequency bands justifies the investment.
