About this plugin
Channel G Compact HD v7 represents McDSP's distilled approach to professional mixing console emulation, prioritizing sonic fidelity while minimizing DSP overhead on AAX systems. The plugin models the signal conditioning and harmonic character of vintage analogue mixing desks, delivering the compressed, saturated tonal signature that defined big-board mixing across decades of recorded music.
At its core sits a full-featured dynamic processor with selectable compression and limiting modes, paired with a four-band EQ architecture that combines shelving filters on the low and high ends with parametric mids. The compressor can operate either before or after the EQ section, providing flexibility in how tonal shaping interacts with gain reduction. A dedicated high-pass and low-pass filter with slopes up to 24 dB/octave handles frequency management without consuming additional processing resources.

The plugin's analog saturation modeling imparts subtle harmonic distortion characteristic of vintage console channels, adding musicality and glue that digital processing alone cannot achieve. Real-time analyzers provide visual feedback for precise mixing decisions, while ultra-low latency algorithms ensure reliable performance during tracking and mixing sessions.
Channel G Compact targets mixing engineers working with AAX DSP systems who require the sonic signatures of classic consoles without the footprint demands of the full Channel G. It integrates seamlessly with Avid control surfaces including the S6, D-Control, and VENUE systems, making it particularly valuable for professional studios and live sound applications prioritizing workflow efficiency alongside vintage tone.
