About this plugin
McDSP's Channel G HD v7 represents a mature refinement of console emulation technology, delivering authentic large-format mixing desk character through three distinct plugin configurations. The HD version leverages AAX DSP acceleration for genuine zero-latency processing, a critical advantage for tracking and real-time monitoring workflows where plugin delay becomes problematic.
The plugin's architecture mirrors professional console signal flow with surgical precision. G Dynamics provides expander/gate and compressor/limiter sections with analog saturation modeling, while G Equalizer offers five bands of shelving and parametric EQ. The G Console bundle integrates both, with the crucial ability to place the compressor pre or post-EQ, accommodating different mixing philosophies. Multi-mode filters spanning 6 to 24 dB/octave slopes deliver flexible high-pass, low-pass, and notch filtering appropriate to most shaping tasks.

The calibration modes - music, post-production, and emulations of renowned analog desks - differentiate Channel G from generic parametric tools. These preset frameworks establish tonal references that experienced engineers recognize immediately, reducing decision fatigue during critical mixing sessions. The real-time analyzers provide essential visual feedback without consuming significant CPU resources on AAX DSP systems.
This plugin suits mixing engineers, mastering specialists, and post-production professionals who value console-derived workflows within DAW environments. The dual-activation licensing supports both studio and mobile rigs. While channel strip plugins have become commonplace, Channel G's processing quality and Avid ecosystem integration make it particularly relevant for facilities already invested in control surfaces like the S6 or D-Control.
