About this plugin
The SSL Greatest Hits Bundle consolidates three of Solid State Logic's most essential mixing tools into a single purchase, offering immediate access to the sonic character that has defined professional recording for decades. The centerpiece is Channel Strip 2, a meticulous emulation of SSL's 9000K console architecture that combines a switchable E/G Series 4-band EQ with separate compressor and gate/expander stages. The EQ section provides parametric mid bands alongside shelving highs and lows, with the ability to route either EQ or dynamics through an independent sidechain for frequency-dependent processing. The compressor's soft-knee algorithm preserves transient character while controlling peaks, addressing a fundamental challenge in digital compression where hard-knee designs often sound clinical or fatiguing on sustained sources.
The G3 MultiBusComp extends SSL's compression philosophy across three independently controlled frequency bands, each with harmonic drive capabilities. This architecture suits mastering and bus processing where surgical frequency-specific control prevents narrow-band buildup while maintaining cohesion. FlexVerb rounds out the collection with algorithmic reverb featuring split early and late reflection processing, 6-band EQ, and sidechain compression for creative spatial effects.

For mixing engineers and mastering specialists, this bundle provides workflow consistency without forcing compromises across different mix stages. The tools excel on drums, vocals, and full mixes where SSL's particular approach to dynamic control has become an industry standard. Experienced users will recognize these designs' sonic signature: transparent yet characterful compression, musical EQ curves, and a resistance to pumping or artifacts that plague lesser implementations. The bundle represents genuine utility rather than nostalgia.
