About this plugin
thEQred stands as a mastering-grade linear phase equalizer built on the foundation of Algorithmix's respected LP PEQ Red, reimagined and refined by MAAT for modern production workflows. The plugin operates in 80-bit frequency domain precision, delivering the phase-coherent transparency essential for critical listening and surgical mix correction.
What distinguishes thEQred is its VariSlope technology, which allows shelving and cut filters to transition continuously across a 0 to 24 dB/octave range rather than locking into fixed slopes. This flexibility enables subtle spectral shaping without the discrete compromises typical of conventional EQs. Across twelve parametric bands, the linear phase architecture preserves transient integrity while providing the "invisible" spectral adjustment that defines professional mastering work - adding presence and air to dark material or controlling excessive low-mid energy without inducing bloat.

The interface prioritizes efficiency for extended mixing sessions, offering streamlined controls that rival the speed of analog workflows despite the underlying digital precision. At 64-bit with universal format support including macOS, thEQred addresses the technical oversights that limited the original's platform availability.
This tool excels for engineers confronting problematic source material or mixes requiring transparent tonal correction. Its linear phase characteristic makes it particularly suitable for situations where phase coherence matters - mastering chains, surgical surgical mix repair, and detailed spectral balancing where artifacts from conventional minimum-phase designs would be audible. Among mastering EQs, thEQred occupies a distinct position: neither as transparent as purely surgical tools nor as characterful as vintage-inspired models, but rather offering a middle ground where precision and musicality coexist without compromise.
