P2000

The P2000 is a Kontakt instrument that reconstructs the sonic character of the Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000 and Prophet 2002 samplers through a methodical approach: rather than directly sampling the machines' factory libraries, Loot Audio recorded custom samples across multiple synthesizers, then resampled them back through the Prophet's 12-bit sampling engine and analogue resonant filters. This process captures the warm, characteristically colored tone that defined these machines while building a modern, accessible interface around their capabilities.

The instrument contains over 1,300 samples organized across 36 voices distributed among three banks, each designed to stream from disk for minimal RAM footprint. The interface prioritizes ease of navigation without sacrificing depth, offering velocity-controlled filter envelope parameters, MIDI-syncable LFOs, and delay functions alongside a 3D controller for real-time parameter manipulation. The preset library includes more than 200 snapshots across six categories, ranging from ethereal pads and 80s stabs to aggressive electronic textures and sequencer sounds.

The P2000 appeals primarily to producers working in synthwave, darkwave, and experimental electronic music who value the specific colour that 12-bit sampling and analogue filtering impart. It's equally valuable for soundtrack and game audio work, where period-specific Prophet tones remain creatively and commercially relevant. While the instrument doesn't aim to replace deep synthesis or offer extreme customization, it delivers the distinctive sonic signature of the Prophet samplers as a reliable, professional tool within the Kontakt ecosystem.
