About this plugin
Nu Gaze represents Loopmasters' entry into the lo-fi and dream pop effects category, positioning itself as a specialized tool for producers seeking to add atmospheric degradation and vintage character to contemporary productions. The plugin combines multiple processing stages - tape saturation, subtle bit reduction, and analog-modeled filtering - into a cohesive unit designed to evoke the sonic signatures of 80s and 90s obscured production aesthetics.
The core strength of Nu Gaze lies in its restraint. Rather than offering extreme destruction, the plugin excels at tasteful tonal coloration that sits naturally in a mix. The saturation stage introduces harmonic complexity without aggressive clipping artifacts, while the intentional bit-depth reduction operates subtly enough to preserve clarity while adding granular texture. The integrated filter section provides genuine tonal shaping rather than serving as mere window dressing, allowing users to dial in warmth or brightness alongside degradation.

For producers working within lo-fi hip hop, bedroom pop, indie rock, or vaporwave aesthetics, Nu Gaze offers a straightforward alternative to combining multiple utility plugins. The preset library demonstrates genuine sonic variation rather than cosmetic tweaking, suggesting competent sound design at the development stage. Experienced engineers will appreciate the absence of overzealous automation or unnecessary modulation parameters that clutter contemporary effect plugins.
Where Nu Gaze sits among competitors depends largely on workflow preference. It occupies middle ground between surgical tape emulations and extreme lo-fi destruction tools, making it most valuable to producers who need atmospheric character without becoming a dominant sonic statement in their arrangements.
