About this plugin
Loopmasters' Double Tiger Presents - Dub Vocals is a focused effects plugin engineered around the distinctive processing chain that defined Jamaica's dub reggae aesthetic of the 1970s and 80s. Rather than attempting a comprehensive studio emulation, it concentrates on the specific vocal treatments that made that era sonically distinctive: heavily compressed, echo-laden, and spatially diffuse performances.
The plugin combines delay, reverb, and compression stages modeled after classic outboard gear, with particular attention to the nonlinear behavior of tape-based delay systems. The compression exhibits the slow attack and musical character of vintage VCA limiters, allowing transients to breathe while controlling overall dynamics. The delay section models the slight pitch modulation and harmonic coloration inherent in analog tape machines, avoiding the clinical precision that undercuts authenticity in purely digital implementations.

This tool suits producers working in reggae, dub, hip-hop, and experimental electronic music seeking period-appropriate vocal treatments without sourcing hardware or multiple plugin chains. The interface remains admirably straightforward - primary controls govern delay time, feedback, reverb decay, and compression threshold, allowing rapid iteration without menu diving.
Compared to general-purpose reverb and delay plugins, Double Tiger sacrifices flexibility for sonic coherence. It won't convincingly process classical vocals or instruments requiring transparent effects processing. However, for producers specifically pursuing that distinctly colored, compressed-and-echoing dub character, this specialization yields superior results to generic alternatives, delivering both technical accuracy and genuine artistic utility in a single plugin.
