About this plugin
Acid Tech is a distortion and saturation plugin engineered specifically for synthesizers and drum elements requiring aggressive tonal coloration. The plugin models the harmonic compression characteristics of classic acid hardware, particularly the resonant filtering behavior found in 303-style synthesis chains when driven into self-oscillation. Rather than emulating a specific device, Loopmasters has architected Acid Tech around the psychoacoustic principles that made acid synthesis compelling - asymmetrical harmonic generation, controlled aliasing, and interaction between the distortion curve and incoming signal dynamics.
The processing chain includes a pre-saturation tone shaper, selectable distortion algorithms spanning soft clipping to waveshaping modes, and a resonant feedback filter that tracks incoming pitch information when enabled. This last feature distinguishes Acid Tech from general-purpose saturation tools. The ability to modulate the feedback decay creates the characteristic acid squelch without requiring parallel synthesis chains or sidechain routing.

Acid Tech occupies a specific niche between broad saturation plugins like FabFilter Saturn and narrowly-focused emulations. It works competently on bass synthesizers, drum loops, and even mid-range synths requiring presence without losing fundamental character. The resonant modes occasionally struggle with polyphonic material, limiting its flexibility compared to more expensive alternatives, though this constraint rarely impacts the monophonic sources where it excels.
For producers working within techno, industrial, or hard electronic music contexts, Acid Tech delivers authentic aggression with minimal CPU overhead. It's a specialized tool rather than a foundation plugin, but within its domain, it performs with genuine authority.
