Product Overview
The EVE-AT1 is a four-band parametric equalizer with complementary high-pass and low-pass filters, modeled after the signal path of the classic Neve 1081 - a console section that defined the sound of professional recording studios throughout the late twentieth century. This plugin captures the musical character of that vintage British design while offering modern conveniences like A/B comparison and expanded Q selection.
Unlike purely surgical EQs, the EVE-AT1 prioritizes musicality through gentle, forgiving curves. The low-mid and high-mid bands feature selectable broad and narrow Q options, allowing you to choose between subtle tonal sculpting and more targeted problem-solving. Boost or cut ranges from approximately +/-18dB at narrow Q settings to +/-12dB when using the broader bandwidth. Both the parametric sections and fixed shelving filters can toggle between peak and shelf modes, providing flexibility across various mixing scenarios.
The high-pass and low-pass filters employ -18dB per octave slopes, delivering a gentler rolloff than steeper modern designs. This characteristic contributes to the plugin's overall warmth and prevents the clinical feel that sharper filters sometimes introduce to material.
The EVE-AT1 functions effectively as a primary mixing tool across individual tracks and full mixes. Its straightforward interface and intuitive control layout make it an accessible choice for producers still developing their EQ ear, while its sonic heritage and extended parameter options satisfy engineers accustomed to working with premium analog gear. This is a genuinely useful workhorse EQ rather than a specialized processor.
