About this plugin
The Q10 stands as one of the few EQ plugins that has genuinely earned its status as an industry standard. Three decades of continuous refinement have resulted in an equalizer that balances surgical precision with transparent musicality, making it equally at home on individual tracks or across mix buses.
The core strength lies in its parametric architecture: ten independently controllable bands with selectable curve types (bell, high shelf, low shelf, hipass, lowpass, and the newer proportional-Q mode) allow for both broad tonal shaping and narrow problem-solving. The proportional-Q feature intelligently scales the filter's width relative to gain amount, preventing the narrow, brittle artifacts that plague traditional fixed-Q designs when applying significant boosts or cuts. Double-precision mathematics ensure numerical accuracy, particularly important when stacking multiple filters or working at extreme settings.

The interface has evolved thoughtfully, offering both a detailed multitouch-friendly layout and a compact legacy view. The focus mode isolates individual bands for detailed adjustment without visual clutter, while numeric entry satisfies those who value reproducible, recall-friendly settings across sessions.
Its sonic character reflects Waves' commitment to transparent processing. The Q10 doesn't color the signal with harmonic character or saturation - it simply reshapes frequency content with minimal artifacts. This makes it ideal for corrective work where accuracy matters most, yet it excels equally at creative tonal sculpting on sources requiring substantial EQ movements.
Among parametric EQ plugins, the Q10 remains the benchmark against which others are measured. Its longevity speaks to fundamental design excellence rather than trend-chasing, making it an essential tool for professional mixing and mastering.
