About this plugin
Kuassa's EFEKTOR Paten is a straightforward 10-band graphic equalizer that prioritizes sonic clarity and computational efficiency. Each band covers one octave across the audible spectrum, with variable Q control that permits both surgical and broad tonal adjustments. The parallel architecture deserves particular attention - rather than cascading filter stages that accumulate phase shift and coloration, Paten processes each band independently before recombining them, a design choice that preserves transparency and prevents the phase artifacts and comb filtering that plague many graphic EQs.
The plugin's sonic character reflects this engineering philosophy. Adjustments feel neutral and predictable, without the harmonic addition or subtle saturation that defines character-driven processors. This positions Paten as a corrective tool rather than a creative one, suited for surgical tone shaping, mix bus balancing, or mastering applications where coloration would prove counterproductive. Kuassa's proprietary Protean Algorithm maintains consistent response curves whether boosting or cutting, eliminating the tonal inconsistency common in lower-quality implementations.

Experienced engineers will appreciate the modest CPU footprint and minimal window customization - practical considerations for deep mixing sessions. The straightforward single-screen interface resists the unnecessary complexity that plagues some EQ plugins, though this simplicity may limit appeal to producers seeking intuitive spectral analysis or advanced visualization tools.
Paten occupies a specific niche: a transparent, reliable graphic equalizer for engineers prioritizing sonic integrity over visual feedback or harmonic character. It executes its core function exceptionally well.
