About this plugin
Kuassa's Amplifikation Clarent represents a credible entry into software amp simulation, leveraging the company's third-generation tube modeling architecture to approximate the tonal character of Orange amplifiers. The plugin offers three distinct amp types, each derived from different periods and voices within Orange's product lineage. Clarent A delivers a clean, thick foundation suitable for pedalboard integration, while Clarent B pursues the mid-forward punch characteristic of Orange's classic crunch channels. Clarent C targets modern high-gain territory with extended sustain and aggressive distortion.
The architecture provides dual gain stages per amp type, sag and bias controls on the power amp section, plus independent low and high pass filtering. These parameters grant meaningful tonal shaping beyond simple gain staging. Cabinet modeling draws from impulse responses captured from actual Orange enclosures, paired with seven microphone options including industry standards like the Shure SM57.

Clarent distinguishes itself through a mixed approach to Orange's tonal palette rather than strict recreation of a single model. This strategy yields sonic versatility across blues-rock, alternative, and heavier contemporary styles. The implementation functions as a DAW plugin, standalone application, or modular component within Kuassa's Amplifikation 360 ecosystem, enabling integration with other amp simulations and effects processors.
For engineers and guitarists prioritizing British rock tonality and dynamic response over pixel-perfect amp emulation, Clarent offers a practical, feature-complete solution. Its modest CPU footprint and straightforward interface make it accessible without sacrificing meaningful control depth. It occupies a competitive middle ground within the amp simulation market, suitable for both professional tracking and casual practice scenarios.
