About this plugin
Wavestate Native brings Korg's sophisticated Wave Sequencing 2.0 engine into your DAW as a VST3, AAX, or AU plugin. Unlike the original Wavestation's static sequencing model, this implementation decouples timing, sample selection, and pitch into independent parameters, allowing sequences to evolve organically rather than loop predictably. The result is a synthesis tool that generates complex, evolving textures without relying on traditional wavetable or granular synthesis.
The plugin excels at producing lush, movement-rich pads and polyrhythmic sequences that develop subtly over time. Its approach sits somewhere between sample playback and algorithmic composition, making it particularly effective for ambient music, soundtrack work, and experimental production. The hands-on control scheme reflects influences from modular synthesis and groove boxes, offering real-time parameter manipulation that rewards exploration rather than preset browsing.

Full compatibility with the hardware wavestate allows seamless sound exchange between DAW and stage setup, a practical advantage for producers who work across both domains. Access to third-party sound libraries expands sonic possibilities considerably.
For experienced producers and composers, Wavestate Native represents a distinctly different approach to synthesis compared to conventional subtractive, wavetable, or sample-based tools. It functions best as a specialized sound design instrument rather than a general-purpose synth. The learning curve is moderate, with immediate results possible through experimentation, though deeper understanding of Wave Sequencing 2.0's architecture unlocks substantially more creative potential. This is essential gear for those seeking genuinely unexpected tonal evolution and texture generation.
