About this plugin
The KAOSS PAD software plugin translates two decades of Korg's hardware success into a DAW-integrated effects processor built around real-time parameter manipulation. Its defining feature is the touch pad interface, allowing direct X-Y control over effect parameters via mouse, trackpad, or external MIDI controllers. This tactile approach fundamentally changes how you interact with effects, replacing static automation lanes with gestural performance.
Unlike traditional effect plugins that prioritize visual metering and detailed interface design, KAOSS PAD prioritizes immediacy. Select a preset and manipulate the pad to modulate filter cutoff, resonance, delay feedback, reverb decay, and dozens of other parameters simultaneously. The architecture supports both discrete MIDI CC control from XY pad hardware like the nanoPAD2 and full note-on/off messaging for keyboard-style performance. DAW automation integration means your real-time gestures can be recorded, quantized, and refined through traditional editing workflows.

The sonic character depends heavily on the selected algorithm, but the processing runs deep - this isn't a simple filter or delay but a genuine multieffects engine capable of extreme timbral transformation. It suits producers seeking alternative control paradigms rather than traditional knob-turning, live performers needing expressive sound design during sets, and engineers wanting to introduce organic parameter movement into otherwise static mixes.
KAOSS PAD's strength lies in breaking conventional effect plugin design patterns. For those accustomed to dragging automation points, it represents a different compositional tool. Results range from subtle modulation to chaotic glitch textures depending on your approach.
