About this plugin
Skaka addresses a surprisingly underserved niche in music production: authentic shaker programming without time-stretching artifacts or mechanical rigidity. Rather than treating shakers as simple percussion hits, Klevgrand built this from the ground up as a dedicated sequencer-sampler hybrid optimized specifically for the nuances of hand-percussion performance.
The plugin's architecture centers on 12 independent slots, each capable of hosting one of 18 meticulously sampled shaker instruments with granular per-event control over velocity, pitch, duration, and gain. The sequencing engine acknowledges physical reality - distinguishing between in-shakes and out-shakes, supporting swing/shuffle with adjustable intensity, and offering flexible grid options including triplet, quintuplet, and septuplet divisions. Variable sequence lengths and independent timing fine-tuning address the practical reality that human performers rarely play metronomically perfect.

The humanizer function is particularly noteworthy, applying customizable micro-variations that fall somewhere on the spectrum between mechanical precision and naturalistic performance drift. Rather than resorting to time-stretching - which degrades transients and introduces phase issues - Skaka maintains sample integrity across tempo changes.
Sonically, the built-in reverb and room simulator elevate results beyond dry sequencing, while a high-shelf filter provides tonal shaping. With nearly 200 genre-spanning patterns included, Skaka serves both quick-start workflows and deep customization.
This tool is essential for producers working across pop, hip-hop, and electronic genres where shaker detail matters, and invaluable for anyone tired of unconvincing rhythm programming from generic drum machines.
