About this plugin
GotoEQ is Klevgrand's interpretation of the classic passive tube EQ topology, executed with a modern twist that prioritizes practical musicality over strict emulation. The plugin's core appeal lies in its dual-control shelving architecture - separate boost and attenuate knobs on both low and high shelves that allow for the coveted Pultec-style overlapping peak effect. This design choice alone distinguishes it from the endless parade of parametric EQ clones.
Where GotoEQ diverges meaningfully is its treatment of the mid bands as dynamic processors rather than static filters. Rather than traditional gain-based parametric EQ, these bands employ frequency-selective compression that attenuates only when material exceeds a dynamic threshold. This approach proves particularly effective for surgical tasks like vocal de-essing or taming harsh resonances without the artificiality that comes from static cuts. The implementation sounds natural, responding musically to transients and peaks rather than treating all content equally.

The plugin's continuous frequency selection across all four bands grants the flexibility needed in contemporary mixing, while the included high-pass filter options provide essential tracking and bus prep functionality. Input and output metering gives operators the visibility necessary for proper gain staging, a detail often overlooked in competitors.
GotoEQ finds its strongest application in tracking workflows and mix bus processing, where its measured character serves engineers working in rock, pop, and acoustic-focused genres. It's not a surgical scalpel nor a dramatic coloration tool - it's a competent, character-driven workhorse that handles both corrective and tonal shaping tasks with restraint and musicality. For engineers who understand EQ fundamentals and appreciate vintage topology, it represents solid value.
