About this plugin
Carve EQ represents a thoughtful evolution of the graphic equalizer concept, delivering a 31-band processor that balances surgical precision with intuitive control. Built on Kilohearts' foundation of digitally clean filtering, the plugin maintains transparent audio fidelity while providing multiple interaction paradigms for different mixing scenarios.
The core strength lies in its dual-tool approach. The point selection tool offers exact band-by-band control with labeled frequency and gain axes, ideal for targeted surgical work. The sculpt tool takes a different philosophy, allowing you to drag a dynamic peak across the frequency spectrum with one hand - this proves particularly valuable for shaping broad tonal characteristics without obsessing over individual bands. The ability to select and adjust multiple bands simultaneously accelerates common tasks like brightening presence ranges or tightening low-end mud.

Reference-based matching represents the plugin's most innovative feature. You can extract EQ profiles from any audio file or pull from Kilohearts' factory collection derived from commercial mixes. This approach acknowledges a practical reality: A/B comparison against professional sources accelerates decision-making and combats ear fatigue during extended sessions.
The interface scales freely and integrates with Kilohearts' Snapin ecosystem, adding flexibility for various workflow preferences. Performance overhead remains negligible, allowing stacking without concern.
Carve EQ suits mixing engineers seeking faster spectral shaping without compromising control, as well as producers wanting reference-guided EQ decisions. It occupies middle ground between simple visual EQs and parametric processors, making it particularly valuable for those who benefit from both tactile immediacy and analytical precision.
