FilkChannel Strip

The FilkChannel Strip is a three-module channel strip plugin that models the sonic character of 1970s Danner cassette tape electronics. Unlike purely transparent mixing tools, this plugin prioritizes color and character across its signal chain, making it particularly effective for sources that benefit from harmonic enhancement or controlled saturation.

The PRE70 preamp anchors the design with a saturation stage that ranges from subtle warmth to aggressive harmonic distortion. A trim control manages gain staging independently of the saturation amount, while a dry/wet blend allows you to layer the effect without overwhelming the original signal. The EQ7D section provides three parametric bands plus high-pass and low-pass filters spanning 20Hz to 20kHz. Shelf buttons alter the curve of the extreme frequency bands, offering flexibility for both surgical correction and tonal shaping. The COMP2R compressor employs an opto-style topology with a fixed attack and release, variable ratio control, and two distinct modes: a snappier normal mode for punch, and a subtler bus mode for glue. A sidechain filter lets you exclude low frequencies from compression triggering, while the dry/wet knob enables parallel compression without additional routing.

The plugin's architecture allows you to reorder the three modules, adapting the signal flow to different mixing scenarios. The resizable GUI and oversampling support modern production workflows.
