About this plugin
Ozone 12 Advanced represents iZotope's comprehensive mastering toolkit, expanding the Standard version with three additional modules and enhanced Master Assistant customization. The Advanced upgrade addresses a genuine need in modern production workflows: intelligent processing that scales from surgical intervention to creative enhancement without imposing a predetermined sonic character.
The suite's neural network architecture distinguishes it from conventional mastering plugins. Rather than relying on fixed EQ curves or static compression ratios, Ozone analyzes incoming audio against thousands of professional reference tracks, generating context-aware processing suggestions. The redesigned Master Assistant workflow now accepts custom target preferences, allowing engineers to guide rather than follow its recommendations - a meaningful shift toward creative partnership rather than automation.

The three new modules warrant specific attention. Bass Control addresses a persistent mixing challenge: maintaining low-end coherence across playback systems. It balances sub energy while preserving punch and clarity through spectral separation. The additional tools extend Ozone's capabilities into stem-level processing and advanced surgical EQ work, positioning it as a legitimate alternative to dedicated surgical tools in many scenarios.
Ozone 12 Advanced suits mastering engineers seeking AI assistance without sacrificing control, producers managing complex multi-stem sessions, and mix engineers requiring transparent corrective tools. Its neural approach performs particularly well on contemporary material where traditional threshold-based processing often overshoots or undershoots musical intention.
Within the mastering plugin landscape, Ozone maintains competitive standing against specialized alternatives, distinguishing itself through integration of intelligent analysis with transparent, predictable processing. The Advanced tier's modularity means you're not forced to use features you don't need.
