About this plugin
Ozone 12 Advanced represents iZotope's most comprehensive mastering toolkit, delivering 20 processing modules built on neural network technology refined across two decades of development. This upgrade path from Standard adds three new processors: Bass Control for low-frequency management across varying playback systems, alongside two additional modules that extend the platform's capabilities into stem-level and surgical mixing applications.
The core strength of Ozone 12 lies in its Master Assistant, an AI-driven preset generator that analyzes reference tracks and creates starting points in seconds. Rather than making mastering decisions autonomously, it functions as an informed guide, analyzing thousands of professional masters to establish tonal targets. The system excels at accelerating workflow while preserving creative control, which distinguishes it from fully automated approaches.

The plugin's sonic character depends heavily on which modules you engage. The EQ, dynamics, and saturation tools maintain transparent, professional-grade sound quality without aggressive character coloration. The new Bass Control employs intelligent analysis to balance low-end energy while maintaining clarity and punch, addressing a genuinely practical problem for engineers working across different monitoring environments.
Ozone 12 Advanced suits mastering engineers, mix engineers tackling stem processing, and producers seeking analytical tools that reduce guesswork without sacrificing vision. It's particularly valuable for those working in less-than-ideal acoustic spaces, where the reference-matching approach provides genuine utility. Among comparable suites, it remains a competitive option, though its strength lies in workflow acceleration and intelligent guidance rather than sonic signature. For Standard users, the three new modules offer measurable practical value if low-frequency management and surgical control address your specific production challenges.
