About this plugin
Insight 2 represents a substantial refinement to iZotope's metering platform, delivering the analytical depth that professional mixing and mastering engineers have come to expect from precision monitoring tools. This upgrade builds on Insight 1's foundation with meaningful additions that address real-world production challenges, particularly the inclusion of Netflix loudness specification compliance and an entirely new Intelligibility Meter designed to objectively assess dialogue clarity in post production contexts.
The plugin functions as a comprehensive audit system for your mix, offering real-time frequency analysis, loudness measurement across multiple standards (LUFS, LKFS, True Peak), phase correlation analysis, and dynamic range visualization. The Intelligibility Meter provides measurable data on how audiences will perceive dialogue reproduction, removing guesswork from a process that historically relied on subjective listening and multiple playback references. For post production professionals juggling broadcast, streaming, and theatrical delivery specifications simultaneously, this feature alone justifies the upgrade cost.

The interface prioritizes flexibility - you can customize which meters display, set targets specific to your delivery platform, and route individual tracks for isolated analysis. This approach proves invaluable during mastering sessions where monitoring multiple specifications becomes necessary, or in complex Dolby Atmos mixing where traditional stereo metering proves insufficient.
Among comparable tools, Insight 2 occupies a unique position by serving both music and post production workflows equally well. Engineers mixing dialogue-heavy content will find the intelligibility analysis particularly useful, while mastering engineers appreciate the broadcast standard compliance features and customizable loudness targets. For studios managing diverse project types, this represents a genuinely professional-grade measurement solution.
