About this plugin
The Lurssen Mastering EQ is IK Multimedia's digital emulation of the 825 Tube EQ, the analog mastering processor that has defined the sonic signature of Lurssen Mastering's work for decades. Originally custom-built for mastering engineer Gavin Lurssen, the hardware unit's warm, musically colored approach to equalization has made it a reference standard in professional mastering facilities worldwide.
This plugin faithfully reproduces the original's character through detailed modeling of its preamp section and shelving filters, while extending the workflow with a Color control that adjusts harmonic saturation across a clean to enriched spectrum. The interface provides independent left-right EQ channels alongside three semi-parametric filters, allowing both broad tonal shaping and surgical frequency work. Mid-side processing adds flexibility for stereo imaging adjustments during mastering or mixing tasks.

The Lurssen Mastering EQ is purpose-built for mastering applications, where its smooth, non-aggressive curves excel at enhancing top-end presence and low-end definition without obvious coloration. It performs equally well as a mix bus processor or selective channel tool, though its design philosophy prioritizes the musical restraint expected in mastering-grade equipment rather than aggressive tone-shaping.
Compared to transparent linear-phase alternatives, the Lurssen emphasizes analog character and harmonic enhancement. It occupies sonic territory between clinical digital EQs and more aggressive tube colorizers, making it suitable for engineers seeking warmth without obvious saturation. Integration with T-RackS 6 enables construction of complete mastering chains, though the plugin stands effectively as a standalone tool. Its pricing reflects professional mastering-grade expectations rather than budget-oriented offerings.
