About this plugin
AmpliTube Joe Satriani is IK Multimedia's signature effects plugin modeling the gear that defines one of rock's most distinctive tonal palettes. The collection comprises three amplifier models, three cabinet impulse responses, five stompbox effects, and a dynamic microphone model, all integrated within AmpliTube's modular signal chain architecture.
The amp selection centers on Satriani's primary instruments: a Marshall JVM410HJS model for high-gain rhythmic clarity, a remodeled Peavey 5150 for aggressive saturation, and a Scholz Rockman emulation that captures the crystalline sustain characteristic of his cleaner passages. The cabinet models provide appropriate impedance matching and harmonic coloration, while the five stomp effects - including a wah, distortion, overdrive, tube overdrive, and octave - represent both signature Satriani pedals and studio staples.

IK Multimedia applied their DIM (Dynamic Interaction Modeling) technology to capture the harmonic behavior and frequency response characteristics of the original hardware. This approach goes beyond basic convolution by modeling the nonlinear interactions between components as signal intensity varies, which proves particularly valuable when stacking effects or pushing amplifier saturation.
The plugin functions optimally within AmpliTube's ecosystem but also operates as a standalone application, making it accessible to both DAW-integrated workflows and amp modeling purists. It's best suited for rock and fusion players seeking Satriani's shimmering lead tones and fluid sustain characteristics, though the modular design accommodates diverse sonic exploration. Among similar tools, it occupies a credible middle ground between amp modeling comprehensiveness and focused artist-centric collections.
