About this plugin
PUNISH is a multiband dynamics and saturation plugin that brings Heavyocity's signature aggressive character to mix and mastering applications. Built on the company's custom analog signal chains, the tool consolidates compression, saturation, transient shaping, EQ, and limiting into a single, modular workflow that can operate as an integrated chain or as isolated processors.
The compression section offers three distinct algorithms: a smooth Class A-style console compressor for transparent glue, a modern knee-based model for aggressive density, and a classic tube limiting amplifier emulation for vintage warmth. The saturation stage equally diverse, with vintage broadcast pre characteristics, modern harmonic distortion, and tube-based warmth available across a spectrum from subtle coloration to severe overload. This redundancy provides flexibility but rewards intentional choice over casual browsing.

The transient module - featuring attack, sustain, hold, and output gain controls - becomes particularly useful after saturation rounds off leading edges, allowing you to reconstruct definition without sacrificing the processed character. The EQ section remains intentionally minimal with only high and low frequency controls, switchable pre or post the main chain. A soft-clip limiter prevents digital clipping at the output.
PUNISH's central philosophy centers on the global PUNISH knob, which scales all parameters simultaneously within defined ranges, making one control shift the overall intensity. This approach appeals to mixing engineers seeking character and coloration rather than transparent dynamics control. While not suited for surgical correction or transparent glue work, PUNISH excels on drums, bass, and full mixes where intentional aggression and harmonic enrichment serve the production.
