About this plugin
ALLURE: Modern Upright represents Heavyocity's most focused exploration of prepared piano sound design to date. Built around samples from a hand-selected 53-inch upright piano, the instrument captures both conventional performances and unconventional articulations - brushes, twine, mallets, and plucks applied directly to strings and resonance chamber. The resulting library comprises 16 GB of material across 11,200 samples, processed through Heavyocity's ASCEND engine with comprehensive modulation and effects routing.
The plugin distinguishes itself through textural depth rather than grand piano opulence. Where larger concert grands project, the upright's inherent intimacy creates a naturally compressed, woody character suited to introspective arrangements and close-miked production aesthetics. The prepared articulations extend beyond conventional playing techniques, offering producers unconventional tonal palettes without requiring physical instrument manipulation. Ninety-five snapshot presets provide starting points across textural, performance-based, and processed sound categories, though the underlying engine rewards deeper customization.

ALLURE performs strongest in contemporary composition, lo-fi production, and experimental contexts where sonic character outweighs traditional piano versatility. The prepared elements work particularly well layered beneath sparse instrumentation rather than as primary harmonic anchors. Compared to standard upright piano libraries, it sacrifices dynamic range across traditional playing styles in exchange for distinctive prepared sounds and signature processing architecture.
The plugin's value proposition targets producers prioritizing tonal personality and sound design flexibility over comprehensive piano functionality. For those seeking conventional voicings and responsiveness across dynamic ranges, traditional piano tools remain more practical. ALLURE succeeds as a specialized instrument for creative exploration and textural development rather than acoustic piano simulation.
