About this plugin
Harmonic Bass Machine is a monophonic bass synthesizer built around a deceptively simple premise: streamline the signal chain that producer Unglued found himself rebuilding across every session. The instrument pairs a clean sine fundamental with a harmonically rich oscillator that can be positioned anywhere from the first to the twentieth harmonic, offering precise control over spectral content without menu diving. Up to eight unison voices on the harmonic layer, complete with independent detune and stereo width controls, generate the thickness and movement that characterizes modern electronic bass production.
The architecture prioritizes separation and control. The sub oscillator remains centered in the stereo field while the harmonic layer spreads, and both receive independent envelope and LFO modulation. A six-character noise generator with follower control adds textural complexity without overwhelming the fundamental. The distortion section tracks the played note automatically, applying processing selectively to the midrange while preserving low-end definition. Twelve distortion algorithms, drive, dynamics, bias, and mix parameters provide genuine shaping capability beyond simple saturation.

The dual-view interface - Simple and Advanced - balances immediate sonic access with deep editing potential. Factory presets ground users in the sound design philosophy while maintaining workflow efficiency.
Harmonic Bass Machine occupies a specific niche: it prioritizes clean sub response and controlled harmonic content over the unpredictable nature of polyphonic synthesis. This makes it most valuable for producers working in genres where bass definition matters - electronic music, hip-hop, and bass-forward pop. It functions as both a foundational tone source and a character layer, though its monophonic limitation restricts applications outside dedicated bass duties.
