About this plugin
Motion: Fractal is a granular processing plugin that combines dual grain engines with rhythmic modulation tools into a single, cohesive workflow. The dual granular processors form the sonic core, allowing independent manipulation of grain size, density, and pitch with tempo-sync options or free-running modes for experimental work. The trance gate adds rhythmic dimension through intuitive parameter control, while the stutter-repeat module handles time-based fragmentation and loop manipulation. A dedicated reverb module (Space) rounds out the effect chain, designed specifically to gel granular textures into unified spaces.
The hexagon controller serves as the primary interface, functioning as an evolved XY-pad that maps granular parameters, gate rhythms, and loop behaviors across a single gestural surface. This design choice emphasizes real-time morphing and exploration over menu navigation. The modular signal flow allows complete rearrangement of all processors, enabling different routing combinations for varied sonic outcomes. The 3D visualization system provides visual feedback tied directly to parameter movement, useful for understanding modulation relationships at a glance.

Fractal excels with source material that benefits from textural transformation - ambient pads, vocal samples, percussion, and melodic elements all respond well to its dual-engine approach. The tempo-sync capabilities make it practical for rhythmic work, while the free-running modes support generative or evolving soundscapes. The plugin occupies functional middle ground between straightforward granular processors and comprehensive modulation platforms, making it suitable for producers seeking immediate results without sacrificing customization depth. Its strength lies in balancing accessibility with genuine sonic depth.
