About this plugin
Lifeline Width by Excite Audio is a stereo imaging processor that provides four distinct approaches to widening and manipulating the stereo field. The plugin's core strength lies in its algorithmic variety: the Haas effect creates width through strategic delay, Mid/Side processing offers surgical control over stereo balance, a Detune mode applies pitch variation for chorus-like expansion, and Mono mode compresses the image when needed. This toolkit addresses most common stereo manipulation scenarios without unnecessary complexity.
The interface emphasizes clarity with straightforward gain controls, a phase correlation meter, and dry/wet mixing. The multiband functionality extends capability by allowing frequency-dependent processing, which is particularly useful when widening needs to be applied selectively across the spectrum. This prevents the common pitfall of over-processed low-end that loses definition or excessively widened midrange that becomes phasey.

Lifeline Width suits engineers working across genres where spatial depth matters - from electronic production requiring pristine stereo effects to mixing engineers needing transparent imaging tools. The zero-latency operation makes it suitable for tracking, while the 50-included presets provide starting points without requiring deep parameter knowledge.
Compared to surgical M/S processors, Lifeline Width offers broader sonic possibilities. Against purely creative stereo tools, it maintains technical precision. The real-world advantage is access to multiple widening strategies in one plugin, reducing the need for serial processing chains. The resizable UI and global bypass are practical touches that acknowledge actual mixing workflow. For producers and engineers seeking dependable stereo control with some creative options, this represents a focused, competent solution.
